HUNTINGTON – CHINESE GARDEN

A stone mosaic floor in a courtyard.

A lose up of the floor, you can see how it’s made up of tiny stones. I took my flip-flops off and walked on it barefoot, and it felt nice.

I heard someone say these were lotus plants.

HUNTINGTON LIBRARY

I’m going to take a break from my Hawaii photos for about a week. On Saturday I went to the Huntington Library and Garden. I ended up becoming a member so I can go whenever I want.

HAWAII – HO’OMALUHIA BOTANICAL GARDEN 3

This is a Hala tree, otherwise known as Screw Pine or Tourist Pineapple because unfamiliar tourists think it’s a pineapple. The fruit is edible and the long leaves contain fibers used for weaving.

HAWAII – KOKO CRATER BOTANICAL GARDEN

Here is Koko Crater Botanical Garden on Oahu. Although many people think of Hawaii as tropical, there are some very dry areas, and this botanical garden has specimens from deserts and dry habitats all over the world. Plus some very pretty plumerias!

some sort of air/cactus/parasitic plant hanging on a tree, completely covering the branches.
